Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone is cozy at home with lots of food and family. Every year I go to Santa Barbara where my family spends the weekend cooking, eating, surfing and walking on the beach. We always BBQ the turkey outside at my aunt & uncle’s beach house. I snapped this photo of our turkey last year as it came off the grill and was about to be carried to the table.
Shaved Brussels Slaw
Raw Brussels sprouts have never tasted so good! If you want to make a lot of this, the slice blade on the cuisinart works really well, too. This can easily be made ahead and you can really toss in any dressing you like (I also like it with Caesar). An easy Thanksgiving side / vegetable dish!
Radishes with Sea Salt and Butter
Radishes with butter and salt is classically french, isn’t it? It’s not for everyone, but I love it. So simple and great with cocktails. Perhaps a pre-Thanksgiving dinner snack for the cooks? The creaminess of the butter cuts the spicy edge of the radish and a smoky fall whiskey cocktail is the perfect accompaniment.
Try Maldon Salt if you’ve never had it. But watch out, you’ll be hooked. (And it’s pricey!)
Happy Monday
It’s a sunny day here in the forest, so I’m going for a walk! New recipes coming Monday! Happy weekend, FF

Root Vegetable Pizza
With so many winter root vegetables in season, why not roast them up and throw them on a pizza!? Golden beets are a stunner if you can find them. Get some pre-made whole wheat dough at the market if you don’t have time to make your own. I like to mix some tomato sauce with ricotta for a ‘sauce-cheese-combo’ that’s lower on the guilt scale. Roast the veggies on their own first for extra crispiness.
